Jim Clark: The Gentleman Racer

Back in May 2021 The Jim Clark Trust announced the launch of ‘Jim Clark: The Gentleman Racer’ in collaboration with Motor Sport Magazine. The Collectors Edition Magazine is the result of a years work between The Jim Clark Trust and Motor Sport and is must have compendium for aficionados of the ultimate gentleman racer. To celebrate the incredible life and career of Jim Clark, this exclusive commemorative issue is packed full of never-before-seen photographs and archive race reports. From his early days in saloon cars and Formula Junior through to his domination of Formula 1 this special collectors’ edition tells the story of a remarkable champion who has gone down in history as one of the greatest of all time. Motor Sport worked in collaboration with the Jim Clark Trust and with access to the Trust’s picture archive as well as its own unique reports and records, this celebration of Clark is a delightful read.
This exclusive commemorative issue includes:
  • Foreword by Dario Franchitti, patron of the Jim Clark Trust.
  • From his first GP on June 6 1960 to his last in South Africa in ’68
  • Ch 2 Other single seaters: Comprising: F2, Formula junior, Tasman series
  • Ch 3 Americana: Comprising: NASCAR, Indy
  • Ch 4 Sports and saloons: Comprising Le Mans, British saloon cars and rally
  • Ch 5 Private life: A selection of images of Clark revealing his life on the farm and personal memories from those who knew him, compiled with the help of the Jim Clark Trust
Joe Dunn, editor of Motor Sport magazine said: “It was a fantastic working with the Jim Clark Trust to put this special issue of Motor Sport together. The Trust’s knowledge and enthusiasm – not to mention its archive of incredible images – helped bring a whole new dimension to the project. Teaming up with the JCT was also a natural fit for Motor Sport: we both take history seriously and through collaborations like this we both hope to keep the memory of one of our greatest ever drivers alive.”

The Jim Clark Trust dropped a copy of the Magazine in to Ian Scott-Watson – Jim Clark’s mentor (picture below). Ian, now 91 was in great spirits and instantly recalled the many tales of him and his friend Jim as he eagerly turned the pages. Mr Scott-Watson features numerous times in the magazine and was delighted with his copy.

With the new museum recently opening it is great that the magazine not only covers Jim’s life and career but also his legacy right into the present day”
The Jim Clark Trust would like to thank all involved in the creation of the magazine and are grateful for the positive comments they have received from supporters around the world.
